Your memories and recovery
Then Again stores your photos, writing, prompt responses, tags, memory dates, Chapters and reminder preferences on your phone. The current local version has no account, payments, cloud backup, export or supported way to transfer the complete collection. Losing or replacing your phone, uninstalling the app or clearing its data can permanently lose your memories. Gallery copies do not preserve your writing or Chapters. Support cannot recover a lost collection.
Reminders are scheduled on your phone and can be turned off in Settings. The app is intended for adults aged 18 and over.
App versions and technical information
Builds 32–34 (0.7.10–0.7.12) disable Google Analytics collection. Build 31 (0.7.9), which is still distributed through testing, uses limited app lifecycle/screen information and fixed actions such as completing onboarding, creating/editing/deleting a capture, starting/completing a Chapter, opening Rediscover or a reminder, and completing Delete all local data. These events describe actions, not your writing, photos or other memory content. Updating does not erase older technical records. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
The app versions described here use Google Firebase for minimum-version checks, crash reporting and performance monitoring. These services process installation identifiers, app/device details, crash traces, performance and session measurements, network details and IP-derived country where applicable. They do not back up memories. The app does not intentionally attach memory content to telemetry; error handling reduces sensitive details. Native diagnostics can still contain incidental information, so we do not promise every diagnostic is entirely content-free. We do not use your memories for advertising or sell them.
Google separately processes Firebase Service Data about provision and use of its services. We have disabled the optional use of this Service Data for extra analysis and improvement of non-Firebase Google services. Ordinary Firebase and requested linked-service processing continue. This does not delete older data.
Website, support and providers
Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. It processes technical request information such as IP address, browser information and request times to deliver and secure the site. This is separate from app memory storage and diagnostics.
If you email support@thenagainapp.com, we receive your address and message through Google Workspace. We use that information to respond, investigate and handle the request. Please do not send memories, databases or other sensitive material by default. Material you choose to include can be read by the operator and processed by the email provider; it is not a backup service.
Deletion and retention
In Builds 32–34, completed memory deletion removes writing and app-managed photo copies, while small references may remain for Chapters and reminders. Delete all local data also removes completed Chapters. The app reports incomplete cleanup and offers a retry. Original Gallery photos remain separate. These statements describe the repaired behaviour in Builds 32–34; they do not promise immediate, complete or forensic erasure by older builds. Local deletion does not delete technical information already processed by Google.
Google's documented retention differs by service: Crashlytics reports and identifiers are kept for 90 days, Performance IP-associated events for 30 days, and installation-associated/de-identified performance data for 60 days before removal starts. Remote Config installation IDs are retained until the developer requests deletion through the relevant API; removal from live and backup systems then takes up to 180 days. Deleting a memory does not send that API request.
For Build 31 Google Analytics, the current user/event retention settings are 2 months, with reset on new activity off. These controls do not cover most standard aggregate reports. These periods do not promise all provider data is erased immediately or on a single deadline after you delete local memories.
Ordinary support cases are deleted 12 months after resolution. Privacy complaints, security incidents and disputed deletion cases may be kept 24 months after resolution with restricted access. Separable memory content voluntarily sent to support is removed as soon as resolved and no later than 30 days. A longer legal or active-dispute exception needs a recorded reason and revised deletion date. Financial-record retention does not extend ordinary memory/support retention.
Your requests, complaints and security
Contact support@thenagainapp.com to ask about information we hold, request access, correction or deletion, or make a privacy complaint. Describe the request without sending private memories by default. We assess it, check identity proportionately where needed, and explain what can be done and any limits or provider timelines. Some technical records may not be reasonably linkable to your enquiry. Receiving or acknowledging a request is not confirmation that deletion has completed.
You can manage your local memories in the app. We do not hold a server copy of that collection and cannot restore it. For matters within its jurisdiction, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides complaint information. This policy does not limit applicable legal rights.
Android protects app-private storage. Technical information sent to Firebase uses HTTPS. This is not a promise of separate app-level encryption, backup, complete device transfer or absolute security. We will update this policy when handling changes; later accounts, payments or cloud features need their own disclosures before use.
